Well, we kinda let her 6-month birthday slip past us because it fell on Thanksgiving. So here are her pics -- she is showing off those teeth again and as you can tell, she likes to be sitting straight up. I started her out leaning in the corner of the chair like all the other pics, but she scooted herself up immediately. I took her for her 6-month check-up on Monday and she was 27 inches long (still above 90%) but only weighed 15 pounds, 1.5 ounces (30%) I was a little concerned about her weight at first, but the doc said that she looks like the picture of health and its probably just because she has tall, thin parents. And since she is such a happy baby, I figure she must be ok. Doc said to go ahead and start introducing all the 1st foods now and I've been making my own baby food so that has been fun. I've discovered that she only likes her food pureed very smooth; I tried just mashing up her sweet potatoes really well and adding a bit of water to thin them out and she didn't like them at all. But as soon as I put them in the food processor for a second, she was quite excited about them. Currently her menu simply includes rice cereal, whole grain oatmeal, pears, and sweet potatoes. Next week I think we'll try squash :) She is still an extremely happy baby, but those teeth coming in sure made her miserable for a while and she is definitely showing signs of getting some more soon :( She is quite content to sit on a blanket and play by herself for a good 20 minutes, and longer if I'm sitting beside her. I'm hoping she puts off crawling for while because I know that will make my like so much more busy, but she is definitely trying to get those arms and legs coordinated. Hopefully I'll have at least a month before she figures it out, though :) We'll see. She is very sociable and really doesn't care who holds her, as long as you smile and talk sweet to her :) And she just keeps on jabbering away and I'm hoping to hear a clear Mama before long :) She's just so much fun!

Well, Karis enjoyed her Thanksgiving feast, even if it was only whole grain oatmeal :) I think she just liked wearing such a cute bib :) She actually got a better feast two days later, when I let her try pears! As you can tell from the bottom two pics, she thought they were awesome!!!

Karis also had fun this weekend playing with her two cousins on Mark's side of the family. Jack and Lily were soooo sweet to her. Lily kept on saying "Kawis wants her pacy" and then giving it to her, which Karis always appreciated and rewarded Lily with a big grin :) Lily also wanted to help give Karis a bath, which was so fun. Jack had fun with Karis too, holding her and reading to her. They are going to have so much fun together in the years to come!!!!!!

On Thanksgiving, we attended the annual Jones Family Bash. Karis got to meet lots of family members she had never seen and had a fabulous time! Her 3 year old cousin asked, "Can I pet her?" and her 4-year old cousin said "I like her better than Pookey (her little sis)." It was great fun. She got the opportunity to open her first Christmas present and was totally serious about it. The bow was the most fun part :) She was quite a trooper during the whole weekend, skipping naps without a fuss and stayimg up way past bedtime so grandmas could play longer :) It was the best Thanksgiving ever!

When my parents came to visit last weekend, they wanted us to come help them go Christmas shopping for Karis, which of course is so much fun! Daddy found this teddy bear outfit and insisted that we try it on her because it was so cute. As you can tell, it was a little past her bedtime and she was very tired. But she loved all the Christmas decorations, especially the big red balls on the tree and the Christmas deer and baby deer :)
